A series of portraits of the Abbots Bromley Horn Dancers.
The Horn Dance is the oldest recorded English Folk Dance. Comprising twelve characters, this ancient mystery dance is a fertility rite which takes place once a year in the small Staffordshire village of Abbots Bromley. The ‘Horns’ are actually reindeers’ antlers, possibly Viking in origin, and have been carbon dated to the 11th Century.
